 2023 Preview

B.B. Comer completed the 2022 season with a 12-3 record. Last year B.B. Comer captured the region four title and a number one seed in the Class 2A playoffs. They finished region play with a 7-0 record. It was the first region championship for the Tigers since the 1995 season. The Tigers won four consecutive playoff games to reach the Class 2A State Championship game only to fall just short of claiming a title. They were defeated by Fyffe at the Alabama Super Seven 40-28 in Auburn.

The Tigers won as many games as in any season since 1995. The 530 points scored by the Tigers last year were a team record in a single season.

Over the past two seasons the Tigers have Finished 22-6 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. Since 2010, the B.B. Comer football program has struggled with a record of 61-82.

Over the past 25 seasons, B.B. Comer has managed to compile a record of 93-171. Their 35.0% winning percentage ranks 48th in Class 2A and 320th in the AHSAA.

The Tigers are led by head coach Adam Fossett who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 39-22 over the past five seasons at B.B. Comer. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have won one region crown with Coach Fossett. Over the course of his career, Coach Fossett's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of ten times and won two region championships.

If B.B. Comer can win six games this season, Coach Fossett will reach the 100 win milestone.

How do you top one of the best seasons in school history? Just sit back and watch the 2023 Tigers and you may just witness it. Comer is loaded with returning players and ready to make another trip to the Super Seven in December.

Coach Fossett will need to revamp his coaching staff after several left for other opportunities during the off season.

The Tigers enter the season with expectations of not only a region crown but will be contending for a trip to the state championship game. They are considered one the favorites in region four and should be a team in the thick of the hunt to represent the South in the Class 2A Super Seven come December.

Kamore Harris will be back this season at running back after rushing for over 1,660 yards on 178 carries and 19 TDs in 2022. QB Devin Harvey will also be back.

Harris added 96 tackles and three sacks on defense. He is considered one of the top prospects in the state.

6-4, 240 junior Chris Wilson anchors the offensive line and also had 65 tackles and seven and a half sacks.

The Tigers open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Dadeville on Friday, August 25 at Legion Stadium. Last year the Dadeville Tigers finished with an overall record of 10-1 and in first place in Class 3A region four. The Tigers lost in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs to Thomasville by a score of 15-14.
